The industrial sector represents an essential axis in the Egyptian government’s economic reform plan in terms of the value of its contribution to the gross domestic product and the provision of job opportunities, which contributes to achieving the state’s goals for sustainable development (Egypt Vision 2030). In this context, the Industrial Modernization Center developed the “National Program to Deepen Local Industrialization” with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian local products to be an alternative to their imported counterparts and to support productive activities in promising industrial sectors.
The “Egypt Makes” program is a capacity-building initiative to support final-year university students’ projects to deepen the local component in the Egyptian industry. The program targets building capacities in the pre-incubation stage for projects in various industrial and technological fields for those with innovative ideas from different colleges by providing direct support through training, qualification, and preparation for the labor market, as well as the necessary technical skills, enabling participating projects to obtain components, raw materials, and manufacturing services to produce a prototype with direct economic feasibility.
